Got this email from my mama and thought it was interesting...and funny!!
One human hair can support 3 kg (6.6 lb). The average man's penis is three times the length of his thumb. Human thighbones are stronger than concrete. A woman's heart beats faster than a man's. There are about one trillion bacteria on each of your feet.
Women blink twice as often as men. The average person's skin weighs twice as much as the brain.
Your body uses 300 muscles to balance itself when you are standing still. If saliva cannot dissolve something, you cannot taste it. Women reading this will be finished now. Men are still busy checking their thumbs...
Just something to help out your Monday morning gloom...
So I've grown up with Colgate and I absoultely LOVE it! When we first bought our place I tried to cut back on expenses, so I bought some other brand of toothpaste. I won't name it, but it was AWFUL!! So I went back to Colgate! But it does more than clean your teeth and freshen your breath.
Lucky for me I didn't have the teenage acne curse. Don't get me wrong, I had pimples, but I never had a full break out all over my face. I'd have one or two a month and most times I'd only have one at a time. I used different face washes through out high school, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Clean & Clear, etc...but sometimes you get a HUGE pimple on your face! Or worse...right on the tip of your nose, before a dance or something of great teenage importance!
Well my uncle noticed a pimple I had and told me to put some toothpaste on it, but it had to be the white kind. No I don't mean whitening toothpaste, but just the white one. So I did it...AND seriously, my pimple was gone the next day. I still use toothpaste on pimples. In fact what prompted this blog was I had a pimple forming yesterday, so before I went to bed I dabbed a little toothpaste on there and when I woke up the next morning the pimple was dried out!
The toothpaste method works best if you catch your pimple right at the beginning. I try to use the white Colgate, but honestly am having a hard time finding just plain 'ol regular Colgate! Don't rub the tootpaste in, just dab a little on the pimple and let it work it's magic...yes that means you'll go to bed with a small glob of toothpaste on your face somewhere. AND WHATEVER YOU DO...don't apply toothpaste to a popped pimple! My cousin did it and she had a sore on her face for the longest time!! Yuck!!
But other than that last little bit of information...I SWEAR BY the toothpaste method! It works everytime!
Well I haven't blogged in awhile, so I just wanted to add a few new things that I'm into. First, I don't know if I mentioned, but last July I dropped my Sony Camera. I had gotten it for Christmas '04 or '05?? Anyways, it was time for an upgrade, but since there technically wasn't anything wrong with my camera I didn't see the point in buying one. WELL, at a family function I ACCIDENTALLY dropped my camera and it just never really recovered. The battery door broke so I had to use a rubberband to keep it shut. I probably could've dealt with that, but for some reason the function would change mid-picture click and it would mess up the picture! Some moments just can't be recaptured and so FINALLY Taei bought me a new camera!!
Isn't she a beauty!! I also want to add that the above picture was taken with my camera phone! At 5.1 megapixels, my camera phone is pretty awesome too! Unfortunately the camera phone doesn't do so well in the dark, there's a flash, but it just doesn't compare to a camera flash. If not I would've just used my camera phone! LoL!! I did switch to this Casio because I got an AWESOME deal on Costco.com. I was hesitant after using my Sony for the past 4+ years... I felt very loyal and LOVED the quality of my pictures. But the Sony I want is closer to $300 (on Amazon.com no less) and this puppy ended up costing $150 from Costco, plus I got a free 2 GB memory card. So far...I like it!!
Next up...
I bought these plates and place mats about a month ago, but just never got around to setting it up. I love the bright colors against my dark dining table. We hardly ever eat on our dining table. We use it mostly when we have company, but on an everyday basis we either sit at our kitchen counter or on the sofa...I know, I know! So bad...but since I spent all this money on my dining table I thought I could decorate her up!! I was surprised how much Taei liked it. I want to go to Pier 1 and get bigger candles and a centerpiece for the table. The candles I have there now were in my Powder room and are too small for the effect I'm going for! I'll update with more pictures when I do that!
And finally...
So a few weeks ago Taei tells me that he really wants some fresh baked bread. He didn't know that I use to bake bread all the time for a church service project in high school. So I surprised him one night with two YUMMY loaves of fresh bread! After talking to a coworker about my new hobby, she mentioned she had a breadmaker at home that I was welcome to have!! THANKS PATTI!! So here she is!!
It's a pretty simple machine, but fits our needs perfectly! You can't really see in the window, but I baked a cinnamon raisin loaf! It tasted pretty good, but I think I need to pick up some bread flour. I noticed my loaves coming out a bit on the tougher side and I think that's probably why!! But now I'm obsessed! I want to bake all kinds of breads...banana, mango, french, wheat, sourdough...Hopefully I can keep you posted on that as well!
Well that's a couple of things I've been up to in the last month! Ciao!
P.S.
The dining table and breadmaker photos were taken with my camera phone. I was too lazy to walk back upstairs to get my new camera, but as you can see the pictures aren't the best even with just a slightly little less lighting, so I needed my new camera. Too bad I was being lazy about getting it! LoL!
So I'm trying to watch what me and Taei eat...AND, I'm trying to eat at home more often than out. One of our newest staples is romaine lettuce. You can get a 6 pack of HUGE Romaine hearts at Costco for just $5.99. Only thing is...that's alot of lettuce. So as soon as I buy it I pull all the leafs off of 3, but leave it in tact in case we use those for sandwhiches or lettuce wraps. For the other 3, I pull all the leaves and then chop to be used in salads and such. This works out awesome, cuz the lettuce is already prepped to eat, that way we're not at lazy to use it! Only thing is washing the lettuce tends to leave SO much water on them. I've tried to shake out the water, pat the water, and even air dry. But those all have their downfalls...the most being that there's still so much water in the lettuce. Then the lettuce gets all soft and mushy or some type of algae like substance starts growing on them...yuck! But then I'll throw out the lettuce!! But I found the most AWESOMEST invention EVER at Ross the other day...
The CUISNIART SALAD SPINNER! This isn't my photo, but it's the exact same salad spinner I bought at Ross for just $10!! That's right TEN BUCKS!! It works WONDERS! I'm honestly amazed at how dry the lettuce gets. Plus you can use it for any vegetable you have to wash!! I HIGHLY, HIGHLY recommend you buying one and get it Ross! Best $10 I've ever spent!!Just to let you know...someone outbid me on the KitchenAid mixer...woohoo!! As much as I really wanted it, nows just not the time!!
Remember how I said yesterday that small appliances are a traditional 8th wedding anniversary gift...and how I salivate over the Kitchenaide Mixers...BUT how I'd wait until my birthday to get it??? Well I totally intended on it, but thought I'd "window" shop and have been pricing on the internet! Well there was a brand SPANKING new one on Ebay for $100 less than I could get it at Costco...so for fun I placed a bid! Bad news...I haven't been outbid yet!!
So I got about 5 hours to hope and PRAY someone outbids me, cuz at the moment I can't afford a $200 mixer!! Yikes!
Today me and Taei celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary!! Eight years is such an odd number...and yes I know the number 8 is even!! LoL! But what I mean is to some 8 seems SO long! I know when I think about it seems like quite a long time! And yet others still think of 8 years as newlyweds! As I did last year I looked up what the traditional 8th wedding anniversary gifts are and this is what my google search got me:
|
Traditional: Bronze and Pottery |
Modern: Bronze and Appliances |
Alternate Modern: Linens |

I dunno about all this heavy metals stuff??? Funny thing is I've been looking into getting a KitchenAid mixer...oh how I salivate when I check out them bad boys!! But those are about $300, at Costco!! Some can be as much as $700! C-er-AZY, I tell ya! I probably should've pushed the mixer topic a bit more cuz now Taei is requesting fresh baked bread...on the regular basis! Maybe for my birthday...*hint*hint!
But as luck would have it I just ordered a brand new camera! I needed one...mines has been outta commission for almost 9 months!! So I'm still happy!! I'll kneed dough for a while in exchange for a new camera!!
Our anniversary was a quiet one...mortgages and other bills tend to make it that way! LoL! But luckily we had a gift certificate to one of our favorite Japanese restaurants, Kunio's in Waikele. We finished up with an ice cream cone from McDonald's and then back home to our DVR! LoL!
So since it was a pretty undramatic affair, I've decided to list 8 reasons why I'm still so crazy in love with my hubby:
1- He's so completely, unconditionally patient with me. Seriously...and I told him this at dinner. He puts up with LOADS and LOADS of stuff that no other man would! He humors me when I'm mad, he gives me space, he ties to fix EVERYTHING that I complain about, and best of all he loves me through the entire process.
2- He's so funny!! Most people don't know this about him cuz he's so quiet and shy for the most part. But he always makes me laugh...even when he's not trying to! He often calls me up and the first thing I hear is, "Babe, I gotta joke..."
3- He's SO hardworking! Probably one of the hardest working people I know. He's currently working two full time jobs and works 6 days a week. He always accepts overtime and even when at work goes above and beyond what's asked of him!! All that AND he cleans the bathrooms, cuz I think their icky!!
4- He's proud without being arrogant. I love that he takes pride in his work, his appearance, his home, his family, his culture, his car...lol! But he holds himself up to where I can admire him, but his head isn't so big that it annoys me!
5- He's supportive! If it weren't for him we wouldn't own our own house, I never would've finished school, and working close to him. He's always been there to do whatever I needed to make sure I'd reach my goals. He not only supports me 100% but our families as well!
6- He's HOTTT...LoL!! But seriously...he's some pretty good eye candy! For some reason I do receive compliments!
7- He loves me...with all my flaws, through all our drama, with the never ending weight gain...he still does!
8- And the most important reason why we made these 8 years...because he holds the priesthood and took me to the temple to be sealed for time and all eternity...
Happy Anniversary Taei!!
Woohoo!! I got my State Tax Return!! This year everything is SUPER QUICK!! I just filed it last thursday and look a week later...it's already in my account! So, you ask, what will I do with this money? Take a trip...home renovations...new clothes...my answer to you, NOT ONE OF THESE THINGS!! I had to file early, to get my state return, so that whatever I got, would go back to pay my Federal Taxes...what a rip off!! LoL!! Another tax season gone...thank goodness!!
After keeping a blog for sometime, events will repeat, it's at that time you realize how quickly time passes!! Taei turned 31 years old on Tuesday! My babes is gettin' old!! LoL!! We met when he was just 19 years old and now look!! This year his day off from work landed on his birthday, so I decided to take the day off too and have a whole day for just the two of us!!
I had his birthday chalk full of things to do...so even though we took the day off, we were still up at 4:30 am!! Hours earlier than I usually get up for work! But I wanted to get to Diamond Head as soon as the gates opened so we can get our hike on BEFORE the sun rose!!
It was SO dark when we got there I only snapped a few shots...most of my photos were on the way back down!
I did manage to get one pix of him...if it were lit in the background you'd be able to see Kaimuki and Palolo Valley, but right now no...
This is the first time both me and Taei have hiked Diamond Head. Keep in mind we just completed the Great Aloha Run and just a few days before this I walked over two miles due to crazy traffic...BUT I was not prepared for this hike. Here's what the brochure says:
"The 0.8 mile hike from trailhead to the summit is steep and strenuous, gaining 560 feet as it ascends from the crater floor. The walk is a glimpse into the geological and military history of Diamond Head. A concrete walkway built to reduce erosion shifts to a natural tuff surface about 0.2 mile up the trail with many switchbacks traversing the steep slope of the crater interior. The ascent continues up steep stairs and through a lighted 225-foot tunnel to enter the Fire Control Station completed in 1911."
I've seen the shirts boasting "I made it 99 steps to the top of Diamond Head" and what not, but it isn't JUST 99 STEPS! It's 74 freakin' steps, then 99 of the steepest steps I've EVER climbed!! It was not fun for a few minutes...especially when you got a bus load of japanese tourist and some hardcore hiking people who must do this every day on your tail! But I made it, to an AMAZING view that I'm glad I didn't miss!
Obviously all of us early birds are there to either A. avoid the sun and/or B. to try and catch the sunrise! Luckily we made it with a frew minutes to spare!
It took us a little over half an hour to get to the top...some of the tourist and hardcore guys must've did it in like 20-25 minutes!! And once that sun was out...so were they!! Here they are headin' back down already...lol!
Here's some shots from the top...looking both East and West...
I packed some spam musubi and juice for us to snack on at the top and then we started the descent, one last pix...
So by this time, the suns up, there's more light, and I don't have 100 japanese people breathing down my neck! So here's a backwards view of the hike...
Just before you reach the lookout (or Fire Control Area) you have these narrow, winding steps...keep in mind that before you get to this point you've hiked the side of a mountain, climbed 74 steps, went down a 225 ft tunnel, hiked 99 more steep steps, and another tunnel! It was kinda funny catching my breath at the bottom to see everyone's reaction to these stairs...I don't speak Japanese, but I'm pretty sure they were saying something along the lines of, "OH HELL NO!! I just climbed close to 200 steps and now this..." or something like that! LoL!
These are the 99 steps from hell that are super steep and designed to kill you...
Notice that by this time Taei was carrying everything?? That's why I love this man so much!! Thanks babe! LoL!
Even through all that...I really enjoyed myself! It was nice to do something with Taei, but our days not over yet!! It's only just begun! But here's a few more random Diamond Head shots...
After our hike I thought it'd be nice to hang out on Waikiki Beach. Taei loves to go to the beach, but our weekends are normally really busy and we don't get to go that often...so off we went!
Good thing about going to the beach so early...prime street parking with no meter to pay...not so good thing, it's really freakin' cold! LoL!!
We did see this group doing some weird balancing yoga! Click on the picture to see it up close.
You might think he looks grouchy, but this is a look of contentment. When I asked him if he'd rather be doing something else, he said no...we don't have enough "just chill" time...he's absolutely right!! Taei did jump in the water for a little while and I opted for a nap. Afterwards we stopped over at one of our favorite spots...
Just kidding!!
Teddy's Bigger Burgers! They're supposed to be opening a spot out in Kapolei, but when?? C'mon Teddy's lets get craccalaccin!! LoL!!
We both ordered Combo #2 with pepper jack cheese. This is the 7 oz patty...Taei was thinkin' just the 5 oz, but I made him man up and at least get the 7 oz. It was SO yummy and cooked medium, which I LOVE!! The sauce is amazing and you can't help but get the stuff all over your face...After lunch we headed home to wash up before our next appointment.
We both had a Shiatsu massage. Taei's been before, my mom and sister try to go often. If you don't know Shiatsu is a Japanese massage technique which according to the Japanese Medical Department of Ministry and Welfare "Shiatsu technique refers to the use of fingers and palm of one's hand to apply pressure to particular sections on the surface of the body for the purpose of correcting the imbalances of the body, and for maintaining and promoting health. It is also a method contributing to the healing of specific illnesses."
I've never done Shiatsu because I heard it's quite painful because of the intense pressure, but whenever I ask Taei to massage my back he insists I should just go to Shiatsu, that we should go together. Taei's work is much more physical and between that and basketball his body gets really sore, so for his birthday we got massages. Let me tell you, an hour of that was AWESOME! I was nervous that it'd be too painful and there were some sore moments, but once the massage was over I felt so much more relaxed and my back felt so loose! I definitely want to make that a regular thing, but probably like 2 or 3 times a year, cuz I don't know if I could afford much more!
Another thing that Taei have been trying to do since the movie came out is watch Paul Blart: Mall Cop...well I checked the movie times the day before and everything was all good to see the movie and still make it to dinner with the rest of the family, but for one reason or another Paul Blart was an hour later than I thought and that would've made us an hour late for dinner. So we decided on Madea Goes to Jail instead!
We still want to see Paul Blart, but Madea was an excellent sub! This movie is HILARIOUS!! Tyler Perry is so freakin' crazy playing all those different roles!! I think this might be my favorite Tyler Perry movie. If you haven't seen it yet, go watch it!!
Finally...the end of our day! Dinner with the family! Taei wanted to keep things simple and cheap so we met up with some of the family at Pearlridge Sizzlers. It turned out to be alot of fun and I don't think anyone can beat sizzlers cheese toast and chicken wings!!
And of course the best part of the night...PRESENTS!!
THOSE WERE AWESOME GIFTS EVERYONE!! Thank you so much for everything, but most importantly thanks for being apart of our day!! Taei especially loves Call of Duty 5: World at War...he opened it up as soon as we got home and played for hours (hehehe...okay, that was me!!) One more thing...I am so proud of the shirts I gave Taei for his birthday. I know it's nothing fancy or expensive, but something small that I knew he'd like. After our Great Aloha Run t-shirts came out so awesome I made a few with these graphics that Taei likes. Check it out...
I thought they came out good!!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TAEI!!!
